Inter Miami have won the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Casemiro on a free transfer.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Brazilian midfielder has reached a verbal agreement with the reigning Major League Soccer (MLS) champions.
There has been widespread speculation about Casemiro’s future since he announced his departure from Old Trafford.
The 34-year-old is set to become a free agent once his contract with United expires on June 30.
Miami weren’t the only club interested in the Brazilian midfielder. Los Angeles Galaxy were also plotting a move, while several Saudi Pro League clubs were also in the mix.
However, Casemiro ultimately chose to join Miami and is now expected to finalise the move after the World Cup.
Casemiro is currently on international duty with Brazil. He played only the first half in the 1-1 draw against Morocco in Brazil’s curtain raiser, but lasted 90 minutes in the thumping 3-0 victory over Haiti.
He’s also expected to play a crucial role for Brazil in their must-win final group stage fixture against Scotland at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens.
A draw would be enough for Casemiro and Brazil to qualify for the knockout stage, but only a win would solidify their place as Group C winners.
Casemiro will undoubtedly be a massive addition for Miami. He has what it takes to fill the void left by Sergio Busquets, who retired at the end of the 2025 season.
Miami tried to replace the Barcelona legend by bringing in David Ayala from Portland Timbers, but the Argentine midfielder is still adapting to life in South Florida.
Yannick Bright has also struggled to match the level he reached in the previous campaign.
Casemiro made 160 appearances during his four-year spell at United, bagging 26 goals and 14 assists. He helped United win the FA Cup and League Cup.
