Manchester United dropped more points in the Premier League with a frustrating 2-1 defeat to West Ham United at the London Stadium today.
The Red Devils had the opportunity to register a second-straight league win and made a strong start with a dominant attacking display.
However, they were guilty of squandering several clear-cut chances. Diogo Dalot missed an open goal.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock through Crysenscio Summerville in the 74th minute, but Casemiro soon equalised for United.
The Hammers came out on top after Jarrod Bowen scored from the penalty spot.
The penalty decision was obviously controversial after a VAR check, but there are no excuses for United failing to convert several scoring chances.
Casemiro, who was reinstated into the starting line-up by manager Erik ten Hag, was the best player with a fine all-round display.
Aside from his goal, the Brazilian created a big chance for Bruno Fernandes, who headed over the bar.
He had another header on goal in the opening half, which was superbly saved by Lukasz Fabianski.
The 32-year-old had 96 touches in the game with a passing accuracy of 86 percent.
He completed 100% of his long balls while winning seven ground and aerial duels.
Casemiro was also brilliant defensively, making seven clearances and nine recoveries.
He had his best game of the campaign, but it was not sufficient for the Red Devils to climb up the league standings.
United have dropped to 14th and are seven points adrift of the top four after nine games.
The Red Devils face a tricky test against Chelsea in their next league encounter at Old Trafford.
