Manchester United’s evolving rebuild could take a significant turn next summer, with Casemiro’s (33) future at Old Trafford increasingly uncertain. The Brazilian midfielder’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and there is a growing sense within the club that his three-year stay could conclude without renewal.
Casemiro has been a vital presence since arriving from Real Madrid, but injuries and form have limited his influence under Ruben Amorim. With United’s wage bill among the highest in the league, allowing the veteran to depart would free up valuable resources for reinforcements in midfield, an area identified as a long-term priority by the club’s recruitment team.
Sky Sports suggests United remain admirers of Brighton’s Carlos Baleba (21). After having impressed last season, United attempted to sign the midfielder last summer, but his hefty £100m price tag proved too costly. It is also understood that Baleba is just one of several targets being monitored as part of a wider strategy to rejuvenate the squad with younger, high-energy profiles.
