Castellón B’s Intercity friendly off, Girona B arranged for Friday | OneFootball

Castellón B’s planned friendly with CF Intercity on Saturday 22 August has been cancelled, with Girona B arranged as the replacement opponent at 12.00 on Friday in Vidreres, Catalonia. The club said in a statement that the game was called off for reasons beyond its control.

The reshuffle alters the final stretch of pre-season. Before travelling north, Castellón B will host Atlético Saguntino at 19.00 on Wednesday at Gaetà Huguet, which will be their fifth warm-up fixture.

Intercity were no ordinary summer opponent for the reserves. A fresh reorganisation of Segunda Federación has moved Castellón B from group two to group three, alongside sides from the Comunitat Valenciana, Región de Murcia and the Balearic Islands.

The new calendar pairs Castellón B and Intercity on the opening weekend, with a league meeting set for the sixth of September in Castellón. With Saturday’s dress rehearsal now gone, their first head to head will arrive when points are on the line.

Castellón B come into this week after their most convincing display of the summer, a 5-1 win over UD Castellonense. Earlier they drew 3-3 with Villarreal C, following goalless outings against CD Acero and CD Teruel.
