Cavan Sullivan, 16, to start for United States against Peru

Mauricio Pochettino has chosen to start 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan for the United States against Peru, according to L'Équipe.

The United States have not fielded a player this young since Freddy Adu. Sullivan hopes for a better path after a fast start.

Already one of MLS's standout performers at only 16, he has been a star for Philadelphia Union this season.

Used as a midfielder or winger for Philadelphia Union, he has six goals and 11 assists in 16 starts. He is highly rated by the Argentine coach.

His international career is due to begin on Saturday at 22:30.
