According to Coluna Do Fla, the CBF has appointed Anderson Daronco (RS) to referee Flamengo v Botafogo on Saturday 14, with kick-off at 20:30 Brasília time in the sixth round of the Brasileirão.

It will be the first Flamengo fixture handled by Daronco in 2026. So far this year he has overseen matches in the Libertadores, the Brasileirão, the Campeonato Gaúcho and the Campeonato Goiano.

He last took charge of Flamengo in May 2025, a 1-0 win over Bahia in the eighth round, sealed by an Arrascaeta goal.

Flamengo finished that match with one player fewer after Gerson was sent off for a heavy challenge on Bahia forward Erick Pulga, yet they held on.

Afterwards, football director José Boto voiced dissatisfaction with the officiating. He accepted Gerson’s dismissal but questioned other decisions, citing a penalty he felt was not given after a messy incident in the box and the lack of a red card for Santiago Mingo’s foul on Wallace Yan in the second half. He also criticised the 13 minutes added and argued the CBF needs to invest in improving refereeing in Brazilian football.

With the referee confirmed, the derby will be played at Estádio Nilton Santos (Engenhão).
