CBF appoints Arrascaeta booking row referee for Flamengo v Coritiba | OneFootball

CBF has appointed São Paulo referee Flavio Rodrigues de Souza to take charge of Flamengo v Coritiba on Saturday in the 18th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro, according to Coluna Do Fla.

It will be his third Flamengo match in 2026. He oversaw the 2-0 win over Cruzeiro at the Maracanã in March, in the fifth round, with Pedro and Jorge Carrascal on target.

In April he refereed Flamengo v Bahia at the Maracanã, which finished 2-0 with goals from Arrascaeta and Paquetá. That game featured a flashpoint when Arrascaeta was booked after scoring.

He removed his shirt to honour Oscar Schmidt, the Brazilian basketball great who had died, and the laws require a yellow card in such cases. Some Flamengo supporters criticised the decision as lacking empathy.

Kick-off is at 16:00 Brasília time. The match will be shown on SporTV and Premiere, and Coluna do Fla TV will provide live reactions throughout the 90 minutes.
