According to Coluna Do Fla, the CBF has appointed Rafael Rodrigo Klein, from Rio Grande do Sul, to referee Flamengo v Mirassol in São Paulo on Sunday 16 at 18:30 Brasília time, in the 23rd round of the Brasileirão.

He will be assisted by Bruno Raphael Pires of Goiás and Tiago Augusto Kappes Diel of Rio Grande do Sul, with Rafael Traci from Santa Catarina on VAR.

Klein last took charge of Flamengo less than a month ago, overseeing the 4-0 win at Chapecoense at the Arena Condá in the 19th round.

Flamengo have recently complained about what they view as uneven criteria from the referee. Early in the year, he sent off Carrascal after the interval in the Supercopa do Brasil against Corinthians, having not judged a first-half challenge on Breno Bidon to be a red-card offence.

He was also criticised after showing only a yellow card to Athletico-PR’s Felipinho for a strong challenge on Lucas Paquetá at the Arena da Baixada. The club’s hierarchy are unhappy with what they consider inconsistent decisions in interpretative incidents, yet he continues to be appointed to their matches.

The game will be shown on Record, CazéTV on YouTube and Premiere pay-per-view.
