According to Meu Timao, the CBF saw no refereeing error by Anderson Daronco over Damián Bobadilla’s gesture in the derby against Corinthians, calling it an interpretative decision.
The incident came soon after São Paulo’s 41st-minute equaliser. With hands near his groin but no contact, Bobadilla turned to his own bench, and Daronco and the VAR, led by Rodolpho Toski Marques, rejected Corinthians’ complaint.
The decision drew protests inside Corinthians. Football executive Marcelo Paz challenged the interpretation, citing earlier expulsions of midfielders Allan and André Luiz for obscene gestures.
In round nine against Fluminense, Allan was sent off for putting a hand to his groin while looking at opponents. He later received the STJD’s minimum ban and a club fine.
Two rounds later, André Luiz was dismissed for a similar gesture. Referee Flávio Rodrigues de Souza wrote that it was aimed at Andreas Pereira, prompting an immediate red. He also received the minimum STJD penalty and a club fine.
Article 258 of the CBJD covers behaviour contrary to sporting discipline or ethics. Corinthians are 16th in the Brasileirão with 18 points from 15 matches. Fernando Diniz’s side host Barra in Itaquera on Thursday at 19:30 in the Copa do Brasil fifth phase, after a 1-0 first-leg win.
