The Brazilian federation released on Sunday night the audio of the VAR discussions from Palmeiras’ 1-0 win over Chapecoense, covering two late interventions involving referee Felipe Fernandes de Lima.

In the first half, at 42 minutes, Palmeiras midfielder Alan was sent off for a stamp in a challenge with Giovanni Augusto. The on-field decision stood without a VAR review.

At 49 minutes, Ítalo converted a loose ball to draw Chapecoense level. De Lima initially treated Murilo as not interfering and the video team supported that view, but after an on-field review he changed his call, judging the foul had affected play and removed the defender’s chance to contest the ball. The goal was disallowed and a direct free-kick awarded to the defence.

After the restart, the VAR recommended another check for a tussle between Khellven and Neto Pessoa in the Palmeiras area. At 61 minutes, De Lima announced a penalty for Chapecoense, describing a deliberate action by the defender, an imprudent foul inside the box and no card.

Bolasie struck the crossbar from the spot, and the match ended at 65 minutes of the second half. The victory kept Palmeiras top of the Campeonato Brasileiro on 41 points, with Flamengo on 34 and one game in hand.
