Fresh from Sunday’s win over Andorra, CD Castellón enter the final hours confident their winter work is largely done. The result cemented second place and trimmed the gap to leaders Racing de Santander. According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the club under president Bob Voulgaris believe the squad is stronger than on 1 January, with the window closing on Monday 2 February at 23.59.

Planning has balanced immediate needs with the long view.

Castellón sold Mamah to Türkiye for about 385,000 euros. Óscar Gil, Nick Markanich and Serpeta moved on in search of minutes, two on loan and still assets. The proceeds have been reinvested, in line with the Voulgaris administration.

Raúl Sánchez is regarded as pivotal. The wing-back returns to deepen a balanced group, and the deal is favourable, he left for Necaxa for 1 million euros and returns for 200,000, with another 200,000 due if promoted to Primera División.

Castellón also paid 150,000 euros to trigger Álvaro García’s clause, the Primera RFEF top scorer. His profile complements the options available to Pablo Hernández.

The B team has been reinforced with Fadel, Catalá and others for immediate impact in Segunda RFEF and future projection.

The priority now is retention. After an outstanding first half, several players are in the shop window, so the aim is that nobody departs before the deadline.

Preparations have run for months, with targets sounded out in multiple positions, including areas unchanged so far such as goalkeepers and central midfield, to react quickly if required.
