CD Castellón’s flying start, biggest second-tier win since 1989, by the numbers | OneFootball

CD Castellón are setting the pace in Liga Hypermotion, a 5-0 rout of CD Tenerife underscoring a blistering start. The leaders visit CD Leganés on Monday 28 September at 20.30.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the 5-0 is their biggest second-tier win since 1989, when they beat Real Madrid Castilla 6-0 after promotion was already sealed.

They have conceded only two goals in six rounds, both away at Celta Fortuna and Girona, and share the division’s best defensive record with Mallorca. They are unbeaten through six, with only a home draw with Sabadell at SkyFi Castalia denying a perfect record. Last season’s longest unbeaten run was eight.

Eight different scorers already, with Camara, Pablo Santiago, Fran Castillo, Diego Barri, Suero, Sienra, Álvaro García and Maty Orozco on the list. Ousmane Camara has four goals and leads the charts, level with Adri Fuentes, Enric Gallego and Yáser Asprilla.

Five wins and a draw make 16 points, equalling their best Segunda starts in 1953 and 1971. Last week marked a year of Pablo Hernández in charge, and the Tenerife victory was his 25th in 43 regular league matches.

International duty will deprive them of Maty Orozco with Colombia, Rodrigo Rego with Portugal under-21, and Amir Saipi with Kosovo for at least two games, Leganés away and Ceuta at home.
