CD fines Varandas for provocation at the Dragão after Porto complaint

The Portuguese Football Federation’s Disciplinary Board fined Sporting president Frederico Varandas following a complaint filed by FC Porto after the league match at the Dragão, on matchday 21 of the Primeira Liga, played on February 9. The board upheld the accusation of provocation and set the fine at 460 euros.

The complaint was related to the fact that the Sporting leader had sarcastically blown kisses to some Porto fans standing near the tunnel leading to the dressing rooms at the Dragão Stadium during the clássico. Porto considered it a provocation aimed at provoking hostile reactions among the supporters. The incident took place before kick-off.
