Austin FC forward Cecilio Dominguez has been reinstated following the conclusion to an investigation into possible off-field conduct, the club has announced.
The Paraguayan was suspended last month as MLS and local law enforcement looked into a reported domestic dispute with his partner.
On Wednesday, the club were notified of Dominguez's return, with the 27-year-old once again available for team activities.
"Austin FC was notified today (Wednesday) by Major League Soccer that following the conclusion of their investigation into possible off-field misconduct, midfielder Cecilio Dominguez has been reinstated in accordance with MLS’s protocols and Collective Bargaining Agreement," an official Austin FC statement read.
"Dominguez was suspended last month after Austin FC initiated a League and a law enforcement investigation into a report of a domestic dispute with his partner. With the police and League investigation concluded, Dominguez is now eligible to return to team activities subject to his participation in League-mandated counseling.
"In addition, family counseling services and resources will be made available in collaboration with MLS’s Substance and Behavioral Health program. Dominguez has missed five games during the pendency of the League’s investigation. Austin FC wishes to thank Austin Police Department and Major League Soccer for their investigations, recommendations, and steadfast commitment to protecting the safety and rights of all parties involved."
A further statement from Major League Soccer added: "Following a thorough investigation by T&M USA, LLC, an external investigative firm engaged by the League, MLS has reinstated Dominguez subject to his participation in ongoing counseling.
"MLS thanks the Austin Police Department and Victim Services and Austin FC for their support and cooperation in this matter.
"Major League Soccer today announced the reinstatement of Austin FC midfielder Cecilio Dominguez. Dominguez was suspended last month pending the League’s investigation into possible off-field misconduct stemming from a report of a domestic dispute with his partner, and has missed five games during the pendency of the League’s investigation."
