According to Marca, Celta Vigo will be without Iago Aspas against Almeria due to a yellow card accumulation. Celta is condemned to play ‘finals’ every week until the end of the season if they want to maintain their push to stay in La Liga, however they will be missing Aspas, their franchise player.

The captain, who is currently on his best run of the season in front of goal, will miss the game through a suspension which has been caused by an accumulation of cautions. The striker took 13 games to score his first goal of the season but produced some outstanding performances during these matches.

During the first half of the season he scored just two goals, which was his lowest scoring tally since his arrival in the first team, but registered five assists. Unlike his start to the first half of the season, Aspas has made an instant impact in the new year and already has three goals to his name.

The 36-year-old has now scored in two consecutive games for the first time this season. In his absence, he will most likely be replaced by Anastasios Douvikas, who has 10 goals in the league and cup combined.

Rafael Benítez will also be without Joseph Aidoo, Miguel Rodriguez, Carlos Dotor, Renato Tapia and Mihailo Ristić, who are all sidelined with various injuries.
