Celta Vigo ‘to explore’ Batista Mendy as midfield option, Almeida pursuit in doubt | OneFootball

Celta Vigo are pushing to add a midfielder in the final 24 hours of the 2026 summer window, with their Europa League return sharpening the need.

For that role, FootMercado reports that Celta have registered late interest in Batista Mendy, the former Sevilla loanee.

Claudio Giráldez’s side have already brought in Driouech, Faye, Febas and Javi Galán. Yet a central midfield addition is still missing.

André Almeida has been tracked all summer, but he remains at Valencia and the clock is against Celta, so a switch now appears likely.

Mendy spent last season on loan at Sevilla from Trabzonspor. Sevilla did not take up the purchase option, and Mendy returned to Trabzonspor in Türkiye’s Süper Lig.

At 26, his LaLiga experience could appeal to Celta. He made 27 appearances for Sevilla, scoring one goal.
