Celtic’s decision to sell Josip Juranovic to Union Berlin could fund further spending at Parkhead this window, journalist Pete O’Rourke has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The Hoops have been active this month, with Ange Postecoglou already wrapping up deals for quartet Alistair Johnston, Tomoki Iwata, Yuki Kobayashi and Oh Hyeon-kyu.

Celtic transfer news

Celtic have done most of their business reasonably early in the window with regards to incomings; however, outgoings have dragged on a little bit longer, leaving several players unsure of their long-term prospects in Glasgow.

One exit that Postecoglou has sanctioned is that of Croatia international Juranovic, who completed his transfer to Bundesliga outfit Union Berlin for a fee of £7.5 million, which will rise to £10 million with add-ons included, as detailed at the time by Sky Sports News.

Greek striker Giorgos Giakoumakis looks as if he could follow Juranovic out of the door, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Atlanta United have had a bid accepted of $4.7 million (£3.8 million) for his services.

On the other hand, the Hoops could well still enter the market for further reinforcements if necessary, with the Daily Record citing that boss Postecoglou has stated that Celtic will “continue to be agile and see what happens.”

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Josip Juranovic?

Journalist O’Rourke believes that Celtic could use the money Union Berlin paid for Juranovic to bring in a new addition.

O’Rourke told GMS: “Although they will be sad to see Juranovic leave, they’ve got a good deal for him as well and they can maybe use that elsewhere.”

What now for Celtic in the transfer market?

Seemingly, it looks as if Celtic manager Postecoglou is fairly content with his squad at present, though you can never rule out the potential for a late deal to be done before the close of play.

There has not been much in the way of links to potential targets at present, though the likes of Hibernian striker Kevin Nisbet continue to be spoken about in the Scottish media.

Nevertheless, Celtic aren’t in a position where they need to overhaul their squad drastically. Squad depth is at an all-time high, with multiple players fighting for every position as they seek Scottish Premiership title glory.

Moving forward, the Hoops will not be panicked if the window ends on a quiet note at Parkhead.
