Celtic can beat Roma, of course we can, just like we took care of Lazio

There’s not too much optimism around that we can overcome tonight’s opponents Roma, with even many of the most optimistic of supporters expecting very little this evening. However is it actually impossible? No of course it’s not, if we play to our strengths a victory is more than a distinct possibility.
Yes, I’m being serious, I fully believe we can win on the night and I have a feeling that we will come away with anther tremendous result to build on the 3-1 win in Rotterdam against Feyenoord.
If we play the same way, and adopt the same manner as we did against Hearts on Sunday, then a defeat is inevitable, but with the crowd behind us and Wilfried Nancy having a few more sessions with the players, we have it in our locker to get all three points.
We could easily have won on Sunday, all it would have taken was Daizen to have taken one of his two great chances. Hearts offered no threat until their freakish opener and their second goal was again caused by our own poor defending at set-pieces. That’s football. Move onto the next game and at Celtic Park we always have a good chance.
The same group of Celtic players produced a win in Rotterdam a fortnight ago, when no one gave them a chance, so why not tonight?

Roma are a decent side, and like all Italian sides they are what you would describe as ‘streetwise’ so it’s going to be a tough obstacle to overturn, with every single player needing to be on top of their game, although it will be tough with Sunday’s Premier Sports Cup final naturally at the back of the players minds.
The current crop of players can take heart from our win over Roma’s Bitter rivals Lazio six years ago, when again no one gave us a chance, but we upset the odds by beating them not just once, but twice as we triumphed in Rome as well as at Celtic Park.
It’s different times, with different managers and players of course, but it proves that tonight is not the long shot many portray it.
Can we win? Yes of course we can. We as supporters wouldn’t be going along with we thought otherwise. Let’s show the spirit we did back then when we overcame Lazio, and give their city rivals the same treatment. 60,000 under the lights at Paradise on a dark winter’s night – what’s not to like about that. Let’s make some noise for the Bhoys and help get Wilfried Nancy his first win as the manager of Celtic.
