Yamada was brought to Celtic in the summer, one of a number of players signed separately from any targets identified or requested by then Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers and just like his fellow countryman Hayato Inamura he has failed to make any sort of impact.
Yamada started once against Livingston in August 2025 and although he found the back of the net the goal was disallowed. That was the nearest the striker came to scoring in his 11 appearances.

Now Martin O’Neill and his coaching staff have clearly reached a decision that Shin Yamada will NOT play any further part in the their remaining months in charge ahead of the summer when a replacement manager for Wilfried Nancy – like the two Japanese players products of the Nicholson/Tisdale Football Manager amateurism at Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers labelled the players club signings although Michael Nicholson in a meeting with the Celtic Fans Collective tried to sell the notion that Rodgers had sanctioned these moves, which have turned out to be a complete waste of time and money.
It’s just one of a series of shocking boardroom decisions that have had a major negative impact on Celtic’s season, none bigger that the decision not to stick with Martin O’Neill’s winning run and instead replace his with the absolutely hopeful Wilfried Nancy which has cost us one trophy and has left us in third place in the Scottish Premiership.

The outrageous ban on the Celtic Fan Media for no reason whatsoever is worthy of a mention as is the ban on the Green Brigade, the outrageous board activities at the AGM with Baby Desmond reading his daddy’s speech and leaving the squad threadbare with no notable centre-forward until last Friday, exactly a year after selling Kyogo.
The former Kawasaki Frontale striker cost Celtic £1.5m which looks like money down the drain.

Preussen Munster are 15th in the 18 team second division in Germany and will be looking for Shin Yamada to find his scoring touch which was missing in his last season at Kawasaki Frontale and also in his time at Celtic.
Best of luck to the Bhoy, hopefully he finds his level and makes a decent career for himself in the game. A Celtic class striker? Never in a million years Michael.
