Celtic have announced that both Jonny Hayes and Jozo Simunović will leave the club at the end of June upon the expiration of their contracts.

Both men’s current deals were due to expire at the conclusion of the season and they will not sign extensions.

The club announced that they declined an option in the Croatian’s contract to keep him for a further year, while Hayes has not been offered a new deal.

“I would like to sincerely thank both Jozo and Jonny, brilliant lads who have given their all to Celtic over a number of years,” manager Neil Lennon stated.

“Jozo has been part of our great club for some time and has given us some wonderful times, playing a really important part in our success. Jonny, too, has been an important player in recent years.

“Above all, both are great men and everyone at Celtic wishes Jozo and Jonny and their families all the very best for the future. We are sure they will continue to be successful in everything they do.

“Both players leave Celtic as nine-in-a-row champions, something they have earned, an achievement they richly deserve and something I know they will cherish dearly.”

The centre-back had been at Celtic since 2015, while Hayes arrived three years ago from Scottish Premiership rivals Aberdeen.

Both men enjoyed arguably their most memorable moments in the Hoops in derby fixtures at the home of Rangers.

Simunović is still remembered for an epic tackle on striker Kenny Miller two years ago, while the Irishman netted the second goal in a 2-0 win earlier this season.
