Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that there is interest in Brighton’s Matt O’Riley ahead of the summer transfer window. The Italian journalist stated that the Danish International is attracting interest despite a mixed start to life in the Premier League.
Taking to Twitter, Romano stated that the midfielder is attracting interest from Premier League clubs as well as Bundesliga and Serie A sides.
O’Riley has made just 21 appearances since joining from Celtic, scoring once and assisting on two occasions. The mercurial midfielder was on the receiving end of a nasty tackle on his debut which resulted in a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Celtic will be interested in any proceedings involving O’Riley given that they will have a sell-on fee. Brighton are renowned for their player trading model but it remains to be seen what fee they’ll get if they are to sell O’Riley after just one season with the Seagulls.
Celtic are expected to net £5.5m from Jeremie Frimpong’s deal to join Liverpool. Although, it appears that there could be a second windfall this summer if O’Riley leaves Brighton.
