Scottish champions, Celtic, are set to make a move for Queens Park Rangers target, Owen Beck, with Liverpool ready to listen to permanent and loan offers.
As revealed by Football Insider, Brendan Rodgers' side are planning to strike a deal for the 22-year-old left-back, who has been a prime target for QPR.
Liverpool are open to listening to any offers for the Welshman, with Marti Cifuentes' side having already held talks for the player, as per Anthony Joseph. However, no deal has been agreed, meaning Celtic could swoop for his services.
With such competition for places at Liverpool, Beck would find it difficult to break into Arne Slot's side, hence why he is set to start a new chapter in his career.
QPR are said to be in pole position for Beck and have already held talks over a potential loan deal for the player. However, Celtic are reported to be interested in signing the player permanently, as per Sky Sports.
The West London club are keen to bolster their squad ahead of the transfer window, and left-back has been highlighted as an area to strengthen.
The Hoops already have two options available to them in that position, with Kenneth Paal and Morgan Fox. However, Paal only has one year remaining on his current contract, with the player reportedly being wanted by Watford, as per Darren Witcoop.
Unless Paal can put pen to paper on a new deal, then it is likely the R's will look to sell the defender as the club would not want to see a player of his value leave for free. Therefore, Beck is seen as the ideal replacement.
Beck enjoyed a successful season on loan at Dundee last season, where he made 25 appearances for the club, scoring twice and assisting four times. Despite his potential, Slot is willing to let the Welshman leave to find first team football.
Celtic are pressing on with business in other areas of the park following the signing of Adam Idah from Norwich City. Idah was a key target for the Bhoys and were waiting to seal his signature before pursuing other targets.
Now the reported £9.5 million deal for Idah is complete, the club have their eyes on a deal for Liverpool's Beck. Idah became the club's fourth signing, having already signed Kasper Schmeichel, Viljami Sinisalo and Paulo Bernado.
The Bhoys interest in Beck came after the club missed out on their primary left-back target, Hugo Bueno, who has since joined Dutch club, Feyenoord, on a season-long loan.
DaveOCKOP revealed that Liverpool would be after £3 million for the Welsh left-back's services, but it remains to be seen whether a lower bid could tempt Slot to sell.
One of the reasons Celtic are looking to recruit a left-back, is because of Greg Taylor's current contract situation. The Scotland international has under a year left on his contract and the club, and although he is first choice, he could yet depart Celtic Park.
Rodgers will not want to be in a situation where he loses Taylor and does not have a suitable reputation, meaning they will move for Beck.
With under three weeks to go until the transfer window closes, expect news to come thick and fast regarding Beck's future.
Although QPR were in pole position for the Liverpool left-back, Celtic pose a real threat to hijacking the deal. Both teams have problematic contract situations in that area of the park, with Taylor and Paal having one year left on their respective contracts.
Who will win the race to sign Beck? As it stands, he is very much up for grabs.
