Yuki Kobayashi has left Celtic and joined Portuguese side Portomonense on a four year deal.

The Japanese defender was brought to the club by Ange Postecoglou in January 2023 and despite a decent start he failed to impress after putting in a string of poor displays.

Yuki never look comfortable with the physical aspect of the Scottish game, but I’m sure I speak for the majority of Celtic supporters who wish him well in the next chapter of his career.

Yuki joins the likes of Bosun Lawal, Sead Haksabanovic, Oh, James McCarthy, and Ben Siegrist in permanently leaving the club. While the likes of Alexandro Bernabei, Marco Tilio and Kwon are out on loan significantly reducing our squad numbers, meaning the decks have been well and truly cleared for some much needed fresh faces.

We have no excuses not to invest in new players. Our wage bill has also been reduced not to mention the added bonus of transfer fees we received for the departing players. Add to that our vast wealth reserves. It’s time for some serious investment.
