After remarkably missing out on Kelechi Iheanacho to a second division club in Turkey, all eyes are on CEO Michael Nicholson as this rebuild continues like molasses in winter time.
The fact that Nicholson and his dancing partner Chris McKay could not find a way to tie down a player who was desperate to stay and had been so open about it, has extremely loud alarm bells ringing now.

The summer window is well into play and the club have only added Camilo Duran and retained Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, in what has been another severely underwhelming start to the new O’Neill-era at Celtic Park.
The minutes from the AICSC meeting over in Ireland beggars belief and to say that the Iheanacho one was an open goal assignment, cannot be reiterated enough.
Whilst this continues to roll on, rumours abound that Hassan is set to join the club next week at some point, with the Hoops supposedly haggling (lowballing) over a fee with La Liga side Real Oviedo.
The club’s new director has previously stated that they will not sell him on the cheap by any means and will still be seeking top dollar if the 24-year-old is to depart the Spanish club this summer.
South American-based journalist, Pablo Oliviera, has given an update on this particular situation and has claimed that the Bhoys are hoping to tie up the deal for the explosive winger this coming week. Taking to social media site X, the journalist summarised the situation as thus:
“Celtic #Celtic is in negotiations to sign Haissem Hassan from #RealOviedo! The club maintains frequent contact with the player’s staff to seal the move to Glasgow and, if everything goes as planned, the expectation is to close the deal as early as next week.”
There really has to be some positive movement soon. Michael Nicholson really needs to get a few decent deals across the line otherwise the pressure on him is going to be unbearable. Signing Haissem Hassan and Marcelo Saracchi would make his position tenable for now at least.
