Celtic wrapped up a domestic double in style with a comfortable 3-1 win over Dunfermline Athletic in the Scottish Cup final at Hampden Park, finishing the season on a high under interim boss Martin O´Neill.

The game was effectively settled in a dominant first half, with Daizen Maeda opening the scoring after pouncing on a long ball and lifting a tidy finish over the keeper. Arne Engels then doubled the lead with a crisp strike from distance that left Dunfermline’s keeper with no chance.

To their credit, Dunfermline improved after the break, when substitute Alfons Amade went close, and Liam Scales had to make a crucial goal-line clearance earlier on to keep things comfortable.

Celtic’s quality eventually told again, though, when Kelechi Iheanacho came off the bench to put the result beyond doubt. The striker weaved through defenders with real composure before slotting home to make it 3-0, continuing his strong run of form in recent weeks.

Dunfermline did grab a consolation through Josh Cooper, who reacted quickest after a blocked shot, but it never threatened a comeback.

The win seals Celtic’s 43rd Scottish Cup and completes the double, capping a strong finish to the season under O’Neill, who may well have signed off with yet another trophy to his name.
