Celtic defender Alistair Johnston is reportedly set to sign a new deal at Parkhead.
The 26-year-old has become a key player under Brendan Rodgers, and the club have been trying to tie him down on a new long-term deal.
According to the Daily Record (back page), the right-back is close to signing a new contract at Celtic.
The Canadian defender has a contract until 2027. Celtic have offered him a significant salary to convince him that he is a valuable asset to the club.
The Hoops were already in talks with Johnston and his representative is in Scotland to finalise the paperwork.
Johnston is keen to remain at Parkhead, and Celtic are confident that he will soon sign the agreement.
Ange Postecoglou signed him from Montreal in 2022, and he has not put a foot wrong since.
He maintained his impressive form under Rodgers, firing four goals and four assists in all competitions this term.
Johnston was excellent against RB Leipzig in the Champions League as Celtic won 3-1.
Sorting out the contracts of other key players will be a priority for Rodgers. For instance, Greg Taylor is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, and the club have failed to reach an agreement with him.
The 27-year-old is a regular player under Rodgers, and the club should look to tie him down on a long contract as well.
Nicolas Kuhn was sensational against Leipzig in midweek, taking his goals tally to nine this season. He has also provided ten assists in just 16 appearances this term.
Several clubs in the Premier League are showing keen interest in Kuhn, but Celtic are under no pressure to sell him.
