Celtic supporters group takes aim at Nicholson and Wilson over ‘lack of humility’ | OneFootball

Celtic Fans Collective have issued a strongly-worded statement criticising the running of the club following a damaging period both on and off the pitch.

The prominent supporters’ group say anger following Celtic’s recent back-to-back defeats against Rangers has been intensified by the publication of the club’s latest financial accounts.

Celtic reported a loss for the financial year, alongside a reduction in cash reserves, with the club pointing towards their failure to qualify for the Champions League as a significant factor.

However, the Collective have taken aim at the response from the Parkhead hierarchy, claiming statements from interim chairman Brian Wilson and chief executive Michael Nicholson “lacked humility”.

The group also confirmed representatives met with Celtic officials to discuss the club’s fan engagement strategy, where they raised their concerns over what they described as the “continued mismanagement” of the club.

Their statement reads: “Anger at recent shambolic results on the park in big games was compounded yesterday by Celtic plc latest financial results. The statements from the ‘interim’ Chairman and CEO typically lacked humility and did little to improve the mood. Supporters are not fooled.

“The stark reality is that Celtic FC is underachieving across the Club and the trajectory is alarming. We have highlighted the signs of this decline since our formation. We will continue to hold the Club to account and fight for the standards that the Celtic support deserves.

“Celtic Fans Collective representatives met with Celtic FC yesterday to discuss the Club’s fan engagement strategy. We also the took opportunity to express the deep frustration at the continued mismanagement of the Club. A full update will be shared with members shortly.

“We are committed to building on the foundations already laid and ensuring Celtic fans have a credible, unifying body that can represent and protect the interests of the support for years to come.”
