Celtic were absolutely awful on the day, and fan groups such as the Celtic supporters Ltd are well within their rights to ask questions of the club’s custodians.
The manager and players have to shoulder their share of the blame, but despite a large sum of money being invested in the playing squad, we are still short in quality in vital areas of the squad, and the blame for that lies solely at the door of the club’s boardroom.

The thumping and demoralising Champions League playoff defeat we suffered against LASK in Linz was also down to our lack of depth and quality, a factor that saw us incredibly throw away a commanding 4-0 aggregate lead, thus denying the club the £40m riches that comes with Champions League football.

That should have been a watershed moment for those in charge at Celtic football Club but they don’t see to prioritise competing in European football anyway, as per he Dermot Desmond statement read out by his son at last year’s Celtic PLC AGM.

The fan-shareholder group spoke for the overwhelming majority of the supporters when they vented their fury at the Celtic hierarchy, claiming the poor result and subsequent elimination trickled down from poor leadership at boardroom level.
They accused the club of sticking with the same structure that has made many “wrong calls” and questioned when change may finally transpire. They posted on social media:
“Results are downstream of decisions. Decisions are downstream of the people who make them.
“Same names. Same room. Same mistakes. An interim in the chair since January and nobody able to say who decides, or when.
“In any other plc, how many wrong calls before the board changes?”

It is clear that while Dermot Desmond has an authoritarian grip on decision making at Celtic Park there will be no changes whatsoever. Michael Nicholson is a CEO in name only, he does NOT make the decisions that’s reserved for the Irish Billionaire who is a minority shareholder and a non executive director yet runs the club to his own will.
