Celtic welcomes Aberdeen at the Glasgow Park for their next Scottish Premiership match on Sunday.
The Scottish champions will look to find some positive momentum going after a disastrous start under new manager Wilfried Nancy.
Wilfried Nancy’s start to life as Celtic manager has been troubling, with the Frenchman still searching for his first win in charge. Celtic’s injury crisis continues to hamper Nancy’s plans, with Kelechi Iheanacho suffering another hamstring injury during the League Cup final defeat.
Alistair Johnston and Callum Osmand have both undergone hamstring surgery and will be sidelined for an extended period, while Marcelo Saracchi also suffers from a hamstring issue.
Cameron Carter-Vickers remains unavailable with an Achilles problem, as does Jota. Despite the mounting injury list, Nancy has defended his tactical approach, insisting his new formation is the right path forward for the club.
Also Sebastian Tounekti and Michel-Ange Balikwisha is unavailable as both of them are on their national duty for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Aberdeen manager Jimmy Thelin will be eyeing a positive result after his side suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to Sparta Prague in European competition on Thursday evening. Gavin Molloy and Kristers Tobers are both sidelined due knee injuries and is not expected to come back before January.
The team currently sits in second place in the Scottish Premiership with 32 points from 16 games, but they trail league leaders Hearts by nine points.
The former Columbus Crew boss has lost all four of his games since taking over at the end of November, including a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Hearts at Parkhead, a 3-0 hammering by Roma in the Europa League, and a shock 3-1 loss to St Mirren in the Scottish League Cup final, and most recently, defeated by Dundee United away from home (1-2).
Aberdeen currently sit in sixth place with 24 points from 16 games. After a challenging start to the season under Thelin, the Dons have now remained unbeaten in seven Scottish Premiership fixtures before their recent European exits.
The team demonstrated genuine competitive quality against Strasbourg, though they were ultimately unable to capitalize on their chances.
Celtic: Schmeichel; Ralston, Trusty, Scales; Nygren, McGregor, Engels, Tierney; Forrest, Kenny, Maeda
Aberdeen: Mitov; Devlin, Milne, Knoester; Lobban, Aouchiche, Palaversa, Shinnie; Clarkson, Karlsson; Lazetic
