Saturday’s Scottish Premiership showdown pits the league’s top two against one another, with second-placed St Mirren hosting table-topping Celtic.

Celtic arrive in Paisley with a perfect domestic record so far this season, having won all four of their league matches. Their most recent outings included a comfortable 3-0 win over Aberdeen and a harder-fought 2-1 victory against Falkirk. Across those four games, they have scored 11 goals and conceded just two, underlining their dominance in the early stages of the campaign. Although they were knocked out of UEFA Champions League qualifying after an extra-time defeat to LASK, that European setback has not affected their relentless league performances.

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill is dealing with a significant injury list. Kieran Tierney and Kasper Høgh are both ruled out with thigh strains, while Callum Osmand is unavailable due to an ankle issue.

Alistair Johnston is also sidelined and is not expected back until October, and Jota remains a long-term absentee as he continues his recovery from a serious knee injury.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that new Chelsea loanee Landon Emenalo, who was brought in to help at full-back, has picked up a training injury and is not yet match-fit enough to make his debut.

With so many options missing, Liam Scales is likely to be deployed again at left-back, as he has been in recent games.

In attack, Camilo Durán is expected to lead the line; he has already scored six goals in seven appearances for the club, including three in his last two league matches.
