Overall, 12 Hoops players have been selected to represent their countries during the break, including two for Scotland. Kieran Tierney and Anthony Ralston are set to feature in Steve Clarke’s side’s vital double-header against Greece and Denmark as the World Cup qualifying campaign wraps up next week.

Tierney and Ralston’s upcoming opponents include teammate Kasper Schmeichel, who will line up in goal for Denmark against Belarus before the Danes head to Hampden Park to meet Scotland next Tuesday in a potentially winner-takes-all scenario.

Midfielder Benjamin Nygren is set for his first encounter with new Sweden boss Graham Potter and will hope to feature in their two fixtures against Switzerland and Slovenia.

In other call-ups, Irish duo Liam Scales and in form Johnny Kenny have been selected by Heimir Hallgrimsson, with Kenny drafted in late to replace injured Roma forward Evan Ferguson. The Republic of Ireland are will face Portugal and Hungary in their qualifying matches.

Backup goalkeeper Viljami Sinisalo will most likely be on the bench with the Finnish national team as they take on Malta, followed by a friendly clash against Andorra next week.

Although a regular starter for Celtic on the left flank, Sebastian Tounekti will be keen to gain more caps for Tunisia when they face Mauritania and Jordan, ahead of a high-profile friendly encounter against Brazil next Tuesday.

After regaining his form under new interim boss Martin O’Neill, Auston Trusty has been called back into the USA national team squad under Mauricio Pochettino, with the 2026 World Cup hosts scheduled for friendlies versus Paraguay and Uruguay.
