Celtic's first move of the summer window now clear

Let's just say that the supporters were not particularly impressed with Celtic's activity, or lack of it, in the recent winter transfer window. It is never advisable to count someone out before they have kicked a ball in a green-and-white shirt though. Unfortunately, a lot of people decided to do that with Jeffrey Schlupp. And they seem to be eating their words already.

Schlupp has been absolutely immense since arriving at Celtic. Of course, many will point to his display against Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena as he kept Michael Olise and Leroy Sane quiet.

The performance against St Mirren was extremely impressive as well though. Schlupp scored the opener and then assisted Yang Hyun-jun for the fifth with a brilliant cross.

It is safe to say that Celtic fans have been very impressed with what they have seen from Schlupp. And the club must do all they can to make sure that his loan deal becomes permanent in the summer.

Schlupp's current contract with Crystal Palace is believed to be running out in the summer. And considering how little football he had played for the Eagles in the first half of the season, and even before that, he is not expected to be offered an exension by the Eagles.

That means that Celtic could have the chance to sign Schlupp as a free agent in the summer. And looking at how he has performed so far during his stint in Glasgow, that should be a no-brainer.

Of course, it is important not to get too far ahead of ourselves. Schlupp's form can suffer a dip as well. But if it does not, then there is no question what Celtic's first move of the summer should be. Signing him on a permanent basis.
