Bad news for Ibrahim Diakité. The Guinean right-back will have to sit out for the foreseeable future due to a serious injury.

Cercle Brugge has provided an update on the Guinea U23 international. Forced off through injury during last Saturday's derby against Club Brugge, he is now confirmed to have suffered a fractured ankle.

In a brief statement on X, the Bruges-based club announced that the 21-year-old will undergo surgery on Wednesday and is expected to be out for around three months.

A cruel blow for the former Stade de Reims defender, who has featured in three Jupiler Pro League matches (87 minutes) this season. His team languishes second from bottom in the standings with just one point from three games.
