Cesc Fabregas sends Champions League warning with Barcelona verdict | OneFootball

Barcelona have earned plenty of plaudits for their breathtaking start to the 2026-27 season, in which they have won five matches out of five. Hansi Flick’s side have scored 22 goals in this time, with five of those coming earlier this week in their Champions League opener against Feyenoord at the Spotify Camp Nou.

All of Europe has started to take notice of Barcelona, who’s ultimate goal is to end their wait for a Champions League title. In order to achieve this, they must give themselves the best chance by finishing inside the top 8 in the league phase, meaning they will likely need a positive result against Cesc Fabregas’ Como.

Como made a positive start to the Champions League themselves with a fantastic 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig on Thursday, and after that match, Fabregas spoke about Barcelona during an interview with Movistar (via MD).

“Yesterday I watched the Barça game, and I tell you that Feyenoord are a very good team, but Barça make you look bad because they find all the solutions at all times. You can defend them man to man, as they tried with Rodri or Pedri, but they find solutions everywhere. Whoever plays has a very high level. Since Flick took charge in 2024, Barcelona have been plagued by financial issues, and that meant his squad could not be sufficiently improved in the transfer market. That changed this summer, with the likes of Anthony Gordon, Rodri and Joao Canceloa all being signed, and it means the Catalans have their strongest squad in many a year.

Thus, this season will be their best chance to win the Champions League since Luis Enrique’s side defeated Juventus in 2015. However, there is still a long way to go before next June, when the final will be held at the RiyadhAir Metropolitano in Madrid.
