AC Milan are closing in on an ‘intriguing’ partnership with the Democratic Republic of Congo which is similar to Arsenal’s partnership with Rwanda, a report has suggested.
Partnerships are part and parcel of professional sports, but partnering with countries is not a common thing. Of course, these deals exist and have done so previously, but they are certainly intriguing.
As Calcio e Finanza reports, Milan are ‘close’ to a ‘strategic partnership’ with DR Congo, and whilst nothing has been finalised yet, things could close shortly.
The partnership would mean that the Rossoneri provide support for the country and population ‘through a series of social and humanitarian projects’, it is also reported that there would be youth sports initiatives involved.
According to the report, the partnership has been done in full coordination with the Italian authorities so far, so there should be no hurdles to overcome, and if the deal is finalised it will be part of a ‘long-term strategy’ to promote the country from the Congolese government.
It is believed that the partnership would last for three years and a ‘Visit Congo’ logo would feature on the back of the Diavolo shirt – as WeFox’s logo previously occupied – and it would also be present at San Siro.
