AC Milan have grown into the Champions League this season, and whilst the club will be happy with recent results they will also be happy about their prize purse so far.
Two opening defeats in the competition immediately created doubt about the rest of Milan’s campaign, given they still had to face reigning champions Real Madrid. However, things have improved since those first two games, at least in terms of the table.
With three wins on the bounce, the Rossoneri are now in a good position to qualify for the final 16, and a route through the playoffs wouldn’t be terrible either, even if not the ideal situation.
Whilst the results will be the big focus of the club, there will also be a point made about the Diavolo’s financial benefits from progressing, and today Calcio e Finanza published how much the club has made so far, and their findings have been relayed by Milan News.
Just for participating, Milan have pocketed €18.62 million, and for their ranking, at least another €275 thousand can be added to this total. For the European share, there is another €17.3m earned, with another €4.16m earned for non-European share. Finally, the results mean that €6.3m has been added to the purse, totalling €46.66m so far.
This packet is more than half of what the Rossoneri spent during the summer mercato, which shows the value of European football, and if this can be continued with progression deeper into the competition, Milan will only pocket more.
