Eintracht Frankfurt have two players in the round of 16 at the Africa Cup of Nations. Ellyes Skhiri qualified with Tunisia, while Farès Chaibi and Algeria went through as group winners.
Farès Chaibi started for Algeria as they comfortably saw off Equatorial Guinea 3-1 on New Year’s Eve to finish top of Group E at the Africa Cup of Nations with nine points. Chaibi scored the second goal for the Fennecs before his 26th international appearance finished in the 79th minute.
Joining him in the last 16 in Morocco is fellow Eintracht midfielder Ellyes Skhiri, whose Tunisia side drew 1-1 with Tanzania on Tuesday. The North Africans end the group stage in second place, four points behind Nigeria. Skhiri played the full match.
The round of 16
Tunisia and Skhiri now meet Mali on Saturday 3 January at 20:00 CET, while Algeria and Chaibi face DR Congo on Tuesday 6 January at 17:00 CET.
