Challenge Espoirs opener for OL Lyonnes postponed due to weather | OneFootball

OL Lyonnes must wait to start their Challenge Espoirs campaign after their first match at Montpellier was postponed because of the weather.

The Ligue féminine de football professionnel said the new competition begins on Wednesday to give academy players from U18 to U23 more game time.

Seven centres are involved, AJ Auxerre, FC Fleury 91, Montpellier FC, OL Lyonnes, Olympique de Marseille, Paris FC and Paris Saint-Germain, with the top four advancing to a final phase.

The points system awards four for a win in normal time, two for a shootout win and one to the side beaten on penalties.

Romane Rafalski and Maïssa Fathallah, not selected to face Chelsea in the Champions League, could benefit from minutes in this competition.

First-phase fixtures are set for Wednesday afternoons, and their trip to Montpellier will be rearranged. As it stands, their next date is 16 December away to Paris FC.
