Trevoh Chalobah has bid an emotional farewell to Chelsea after 18 years, and revealed how Cesc Fabregas convinced him to join Como. ‘He showed how much he wanted me.’
The defender is now 27 years old and is fresh from securing the bronze medal with England at the 2026 World Cup.

Today he begins a new adventure in Serie A with Como, completing the transfer for €30m plus add-ons and signing a contract to June 2031.
Speaking to the official Como website, Chalobah reveals it was the direct contact with former Chelsea teammate Fabregas, now the coach at the Stadio Sinigaglia, that made the move happen.

“The call with Cesc was really good, he showed how much he wanted me,” said Chalobah.
“Knowing Cesc, obviously, he’s been at Chelsea, and I trained with him when I was younger. Now obviously to play under him will be amazing. For sure, I’ll give it my all. I’m excited for this new journey.”
It is also the end of an era for Chalobah, who joined the Chelsea academy when he was eight years old, and moved all the way to the senior squad.
“An 8-year-old boy walked through those doors. A man walks out. Dream lived. Purpose fulfilled. To every academy player at Chelsea: keep believing. Your time will come. Never give up,” he wrote on social media.
“After 18 years, it’s time to say goodbye to Chelsea. I arrived as a nine-year-old with a dream, and I leave as a man who’s lived that dream in ways I never imagined.
“This journey tested me, lifted me, and strengthened me. To every teammate, coach, staff member, and supporter, thank you for shaping me. I gave everything I had, and I’m proud of the person this club helped me become.
“To the young players: the path won’t always be smooth. But stay ready, stay positive, and keep your faith. God’s timing is always right. Thank you all, truly, with love and gratitude.”
There were also loan experiences with Ipswich Town, Huddersfield Town and Lorient, but he amassed over 150 competitive appearances for Chelsea.
The defender was also part of the squad that won the 2021 UEFA Supercup, the FIFA Club World Cup and the Conference League.
