The Champions League is set for kick-off after the league-phase draw, with all 36 clubs handed their first eight opponents.
According to Superdeporte, PSG begin the 72nd edition as holders and strong contenders for a third straight crown, though Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético, Bayern Munich and Arsenal are among the leading challengers.
There are fresh storylines too, not least the four debutants, headed by Como under Cesc Fábregas. Real Betis return, and many will watch for another surprise similar to Bodo/Glimt last season.
Real Madrid face Inter, Arsenal, PSV, Roma, Leipzig, Shakhtar, LASK and AEK Athens. Barcelona meet Manchester City, PSG, Aston Villa, Sporting CP, Feyenoord, Galatasaray, Como and Sabah. Atlético draw Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United, PSV, Fenerbahçe, Bodo/Glimt, Viking and Stuttgart.
Villarreal were paired with PSG, Liverpool, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, Napoli, Fenerbahçe, Sabah and Slavia Prague. Real Betis will play Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Porto, Borussia Dortmund, Feyenoord, Lille, Como and Slovan Bratislava.
The league phase starts on Tuesday, the eighth of September, and runs until 27 January, when the final round of fixtures will be played together. The top eight advance to the last 16, with sides placed ninth to 24th entering play-offs for the remaining eight berths.
