Just hours before the Kairat Almaty vs Real Madrid Champions League showdown, Andrey Arshavin has fired a shot at the Madrid giants.

Andrey Arshavin, who played for Zenit, Arsenal, and Kairat Almaty, has never had a soft spot for Real Madrid. With just minutes to go before Madrid face the Kazakh side in the Champions League, the Russian international is openly rooting for his former club. "I hope Kairat wins. Every Real Madrid defeat gives me a little lift," he told Mundo Deportivo.

He went on to emphasize that the long trip from Spain will have a bigger impact on Real’s players than their heavy 5-2 defeat to Atlético. "For Russians and Kazakhs, covering these distances is normal, but for Europeans, it’s like crossing the continent seven times over," he insisted.
