UEFA has provided an explanation for the change in kickoff time for the upcoming Champions League final.

At the end of last August, UEFA announced that the kickoff for the Champions League final would no longer be at 9:00 p.m., but at 6:00 p.m. (Paris time). Addressing the topic in recent hours, UEFA's marketing director Guy-Laurent Epstein offered an explanation.

“It’s a service for fans attending the match. Everyone is traveling. In some countries, when you finished at 11 p.m. or midnight if the match went long, getting back home or to the hotel wasn’t always easy for the public. Then, by setting it at 6 p.m., it’s also more attractive for broadcasts in the Middle East and Asia. I can imagine that some TV channels won’t be happy, but in the end, the product is so strong that success is guaranteed,” he told L’Équipe.
