The knockout stages of the 2019/20 UEFA Champions League are finally here.
What a time to be alive.
Here is what you can expect from the round of 16 matches this week.
The whole Qatar Sports Investments project is built towards bringing the trophy back to Paris but since their takeover in 2011, they are yet to be successful.
In fact, they have yet to get past the quarter-final stages under this ownership.
Kylian Mbappé and Neymar have both been included in the squad and this has to be the season they get it right. But will they?
When it comes to this competition PSG are not being talked about as potential winners, despite their dominance of Ligue 1.
With most bookmakers they find themselves fifth favourites. There is almost an expectation that PSG will bottle it and it wouldn’t surprise many if they were knocked out before the semis again.
Overcoming Dortmund and the scoring prowess of Erling Haaland may just give them the confidence to go on and take a serious crack this time around.
It’s about time they were real contenders.
Atlético Madrid and Liverpool go into this tie experiencing contrasting seasons.
The competition holders are 25 points clear of Manchester City and have lost only two games all season.
Meanwhile, Atlético have found themselves in the midst of a crisis.
They have fallen out of the La Liga title race and their place in the top four has come under considerable threat.
And yet, we wouldn’t be at all surprised if they pull off a shock on Tuesday.
Diego Simeone has craved this title title for years and let’s not forget this is the only thing they are left playing for between now and the end of the season.
Atléti have always been at their best when they play and feel like the whole world is against them. They will find that on Tuesday night.
Expect Atlético Madrid to go full Atlético Madrid.

OK, this might be a bit of a football hipster shout but bare with us.
Atalanta have somehow found their way into the last-16 despite failing to win any of their first four group games.
With 63 goals, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are the fourth highest goalscorers across Europe’s five biggest leagues and could be ones to watch if they make it past Valencia.
The game will also be played at the San Siro, meaning this will just be a lovely visual time for everybody involved.
José Mourinho has been appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager so he can bring home trophies.
That was the task given to him by Daniel Levy after years of progression under Mauricio Pochettino but no silverware.
Nobody will be expecting Spurs to win it but they were runners-up last season and they won’t find it easy when RB Leipzig roll into town.
The German side are running Bayern Munich close in the Bundesliga title race this season and boast one of Europe’s fearful strikers in Timo Werner, and it wouldn’t be the biggest surprise if they were to progress to the quarter-finals.
But Mourinho has the opportunity to create a siege mentality and perhaps pull one last rabbit out of the hat.
This will be a difficult one to call and we fully expect the tie to be alive going into the second leg.
