You might have expected that, with six English clubs in the last 16 of the Champions League, we could be confident that at least one would make the quarter-finals. But nothing can be taken for granted after first legs that saw none of the six win, four defeated and two registering draws.
Three of them - Chelsea, Man City and Tottenham - came away from their first legs three goals down and need miracle comebacks to turn their ties around.
Ahead of this week's second legs, below is the state of play - with chances of qualifying based on the latest Betfair odds - for each tie involving English clubs.
With the score 2-2 in the second-half of the first leg in Paris, Chelse were in a good position and would have fancied their chances of getting through in the second leg at Stamford Bridge. Unfortunately, three late goals for the holders give the tie a very different complexion and PSG are 1/16 to qualify with Chelsea 15/2.

Arsenal were pleased when they drew Leverkusen, who have struggled in the Bundesliga this season, but the German side were better than expected in last week's first leg. The hosts were disappointed not to win after leading for much of the second half until Kai Havertz's 89th minute equaliser from the penalty spot. Despite their difficulties in the first leg, Arsenal are 5/2 favourites to win the Champions League and 1/12 to get through this tie.

Not a vintage Real Madrid team. A good opportunity for Man City to knock out the 15-time champions. This was the received wisdom ahead of last week's first leg in Madrid except it turns out that the Spanish side are pretty good after all - or at least good enough to thump City 3-0 - leaving Los Blancos 2/9 to qualify and the Premier League club 16/5.

Harvey Barnes' 86th-minute looked to have given the Magpies a famous victory in last week's first leg before Lamine Yamal made it 1-1 from the penalty spot at the death. Has that killed off Newcastle's chances of getting through this tie? A trip to Camp Nou is daunting but at 1-1 the tie is in the balance, with Barcelona 1/4 and Newcastle 14/5.

Liverpool's defeat in the first leg, followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw with Tottenham at the weekend, was emblematic of their frustrating season. Can they be trusted to blow away their Turkish opponents at Anfield or will Galatasaray, who have beaten the Reds twice already this season, pull off a famous aggregate win? Liverpool are 4/11 to qualify and Galatasaray 21/10.
Tottenham were 4-0 down after 22 minutes, thanks to well-documented goalkeeping calamities, at the Metropolitano in last week's first leg. In all probability, the tie was done and dusted then, but could Spurs turn around the three goal deficit in the second leg? They have been poor at home this season and, with Spurs [14/1] to qualify, the market is not optimisitic about their chances of pulling off what would be one of the all-time comebacks. Atletico are 1/80 to get the job done and reach the last eight.
