Atalanta can lock down a top eight Champions League spot with Ademola Lookman back on the bench against Athletic Club, as Gianluca Scamacca starts with Charles De Ketelaere.

La Dea had opened their European campaign with a thumping 4-0 defeat to PSG, but since then have been on a roll, winning four of the next five games including against Chelsea and Olympique Marseille, dropping points only in a 0-0 with Slavia Prague.

Their Serie A form had improved too, but a 1-1 draw at Pisa on Friday raised concerns.

Scamacca is fully fit again to lead the attack after his injury, supported by De Ketelaere and Nicola Zalewski, but Lookman is on the bench for the first time since his Africa Cup of Nations experience.

Raoul Bellanova and Berat Djimsiti are not at 100 per cent, while Giacomo Raspadori is ineligible until the second phase of the tournament after his arrival from Atletico Madrid.

Athletic Club are struggling in 32nd place out of 36 in the Champions League table after one win, two draws and three defeats.

Their last two European ties in 2025 were 0-0 stalemates with Slavia Prague and Paris Saint-Germain, but they’ve had serious problems in LaLiga lately, picking up just one point from the last five rounds.

Aymeric Laporte, Unai Egiluz and Benat Prados are long-term injuries, but they are also missing Inaki Williams, Nico Williams, Alex Berenguer and Yuri Berchiche.

Instead, centre-forward Gorka Guruzeta leads the way.
