UEFA will distribute nearly €2.4 billion to Champions League clubs this season, with a participation fee just over €18 million for each of the 36 teams in the league phase, according to UEFA documents published this summer.

Play-off losers dropping into the Europa League, including Lyon, will share a €4.2 million pot. The second competition’s overall fund stands at €565 million.

In the Champions League, result bonuses apply, €2.1 million per win and €700,000 for a draw. Lille missed out on the victory bonus after losing to Real Betis in their opening match on Tuesday.

Progression payments are cumulative, €11 million for the last 16, €12.5 million for the quarter-finals, €15 million for the semi-finals and €18.5 million for reaching the final, with an extra €6.5 million for the champions.

UEFA also pays out via a value pillar worth €853 million, linked to domestic broadcast market weight and a club’s 10-year European coefficient.

In total, the winners could earn close to €110 million.
