Dietmar Hamann has offered a warning to Liverpool over Jamal Musiala who the Reds are increasingly interested in making a move for.

Liverpool have reportedly been placed on high alert for the Bayern Munich star according to CaughtOffside, despite the German giants expressing their desire to keep the 21-year-old at the club.

Musiala is approaching the final season on his current contract at the Bundesliga side.

The German midfielder is currently one of football's most exciting prospects and with his ties to English football - Musiala spent a chunk of his youth career at Chelsea whilst representing England - could potentially see him being lured to a move to the Premier League.

Musiala is one of the best midfielders when it comes to sheer footballing ability and his prowess in one-on-one situations is virtually unmatched compared with any other central player.

However, Hamann has offered a warning to Liverpool and any other clubs interested in Musiala, as the former Reds midfielder criticised the German's discipline in constantly wanting to dribble rather than keeping the ball moving.

"Musiala is more of a single player and often a detailer. If he gets the ball ten times, he takes his head down nine times and starts to dribble.

"With Musiala you can play successful football, but if you look at the past few years, Bayern were mostly dependent on individual actions. This is also related to Musiala.

"There is hardly any player in world football except him who is a pure one-on-one player. The game flow also suffers from this," Hamann said in his Sky Sports column.

Jamal Musiala in action for Bayern Munich

Musiala's costly mistake hurts Germany

The Netherlands locked horns with Germany on Tuesday which saw two of Europe's elite have to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Goals from Joshua Kimmich and Denis Undav saw the Germans go in at the interval 2-1 up following Tijjani Reijnders' early opener.

But it was Jamal Musiala's mistake that led to Denzel Dumphries earning his country a point after the Bayern star was dispossessed trying to dribble past opponents on the edge of his box - reinforcing Hamann's criticism of the youngster.

Musiala humbly showded his self-critical side after the game, saying: "Today was not our day, we will learn from it. I also had a few ball losses, because we have to be more ball-proof and clever."
