The Mandela Stadium in Namboole is set to be electric tonight. Uganda faces Niger in a decisive clash that could shape their ambitions at CHAN 2024.

After a 3-0 defeat to Algeria, the Cranes bounced back by crushing Guinea 3-0. Their head coach, Morley Byekwaso, makes no secret of his expectations:

We have no excuses. This match must be won.

The coach promises a few tactical tweaks to counter Niger’s playing style, while maintaining the solid foundation of the starting eleven that triumphed over Guinea. He is also counting on the massive support of the fans, whom he describes as the team’s “lifeblood.”

On the other side, Niger, who suffered a 1-0 defeat to Guinea in their opening match, is determined to set things right. Their coach, Harouna Doulla, is clear about his intentions:

We will correct our mistakes, apply pressure, and face the crowd head on.

The stakes are clear: a Ugandan victory could send them to the top of the group—provided Guinea does not beat South Africa earlier in the day.
