A goalless friendly that offers some reassurance for both teams ahead of the CHAN.
Guinea's home team
Senegal and Guinea played out a goalless draw (0-0) on Friday, July 4, 2025, in a CHAN warm-up friendly. The match, held in Diamniadio, saw both local squads unable to break the deadlock despite a handful of chances.
Right from kick-off at the annex stadium of the Abdoulaye Wade complex in Diamniadio, the hosts put early pressure on their opponents. However, this dominance was short-lived. After half an hour, Guinea raised the intensity, both physically and technically, putting Senegal’s defense under considerable strain. Souleymane Diallo’s men were forced to drop deeper and multiply their interventions to keep the Guinean attacks at bay. The local Syli gradually established themselves in the Senegalese half, but couldn’t turn their dominance into a goal.
In the second half, Souleymane Diallo made several tactical changes (Gomis, Cissé, Ndiaye) to inject energy into the midfield. Mangoné Ndiaye thought he’d broken the deadlock, but his goal was ruled out for offside. Guinea responded with two dangerous chances, both denied by the Senegalese goalkeeper. The contest ultimately ended with neither side able to find the net.
The second leg of this double-header will take place next Monday, July 9, again in Diamniadio. This next clash will allow both teams to fine-tune their chemistry ahead of the African Nations Championship, scheduled from August 2 to 30, 2025, in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda.
