Manchester United fans would head into the transfer window with no stress this summer if they knew Bruno Fernandes was confirmed to be staying put at the club.
Although the Old Trafford skipper is tied down to a deal until June 2027 plus a 12-month option, reports had suggested he could consider a move once Portugal’s World Cup campaign ended.

Taking into account the 31-year-old’s perspective, you couldn’t really blame him for wanting to add a bit more silverware to his honours list before he reaches the latter stages of his career.
However, it goes without saying that it would undoubtedly mean more to him if he did so with United, where he is viewed as an influential, irreplaceable cog at the heart of the side, which has been the case since he signed in January 2020.
Fernandes’ complete record in all competitions for United
In his five-year career in M16, Fernandes has already claimed the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award four times, and is poised to claim the club feat once again upon the culmination of 2025/2026 due to his world-class efforts across the term.
If awarded fairly and unaffected by the title race, he has also done more than enough to be officially named the Premier League’s Player of the Year.
Fernandes’ Premier League record this season
In recent summer windows, Fernandes has rebuffed mega-money approaches from Al-Hilal and, prior to that, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan in order to stay put in Manchester.
Now that United are on course to secure their spot back in Europe’s elite competition for 2026/2027, Samuel Luckhurst has suggested the Red Devils talisman is keen to continue into a new season with his beloved club.
“Chances are Fernandes’ MUFC future won’t be as uncertain this summer as it was last summer. Senne Lammens says Fernandes is ‘demanding’ of teammates in quest to win the Premier League and Champions League,” revealed the journalist following Saturday’s triumph over Chelsea.
